We decided that we needed some picture shelves in the hall so we went to some typical name brand stores and found some ridiculous priced 2 foot shelves. I told my wife I could her shelves twice as big, twice as nice, for a quarter of the price.

So of course, that's what I had to do...

I used an 8 foor 1x4 and (2) 8 foot 1x2's to build 2 of these shelves with nothing more than wood glue, clamps and a couple of wood screws to attach them to the wall studs. From the material, we made (2) 4 foot shelves.

We stained the shelves and then used a small brush with a very small amount of white paint, almost dry, to white wash the boards and give it a weathered look.
